With all the warm weather this spring our strawberries have ripen really early and quickly. We had our first strawberry June 1st! I’ve picked enough for spinach and strawberry salads, and this picture is of the bunch I picked for a volleyball party’s fruit salad. So yummy!
Can’t wait until the carrots, beans, peas, tomatoes, and fruit from the trees are ready!

Bekah and I spent a little time outside this afternoon between wind, sun, and rain storms. Here are some of the signs of spring popping out around our home.

Front bed - the daffodils are about ready to open

Lilac bush

Raspberries

Cherry tree

Pear tree

Dogwood tree

Rose bush

Neighbor's flag and buds on his tree

And it wouldn't be clearly spring... without the return of weeds.
Happy Spring!

Willie got home from work today and headed out to the garden. This is what he came in with after about 20 minutes…

I just realized I never posted pictures of our fastastic front ‘yard’ transformation!
Willie worked so hard during this extended weekend. I had one request: Please do something about the dirt path at the front of the house since the rain is coming! So, he borrowed a friend’s F350 pickup truck, loaded it up and brought it home to unload 4 yards of crushed rock and 3,000 pounds of flagstone to our driveway.
Here is the “Before” photo, although it is “after” the crushed rock was shoveled out and smashed down as best as we could:
Ready to lay the stone
I love how this turned out!
My Honey is so talented at this! I occasionally help with design, but for the most part, the garden is his ‘baby’ – and he loves it, quite obviously.
It’s a scorcher!

The activities of our very hot weekend… Friday – Edmonds Beach with Molly. Saturday we spent the day outside with baseball game, picture day, and pizza, followed (and preceded) by yardwork, trellis building, car washing, and such. Ashley enjoyed a hot trip to the zoo for a youth group scavenger hunt of the leaders. We tried to hit the Lynnwood pool after picking up Ashley, but it was very hot (roof not off yet) and a total zoo in and of itself. Instead, we went next door to the fire station and got a tour of the station from our firefighter friend, Keith Sessions. Jordan even put the coat on – it was heavy! Then, Willie & I enjoyed an evening of fun as we celebrated Leah’s birthday at the Mansfield’s. Did we have sunburns? Yeah, we’re fair and inexperienced at dealing with the first intense rays of the year…
April snow showers bring… dead plants?

We have gotten a freak snow storm today. Not just flurries, but an honest to goodness storm. I don’t think we got this much snow combined all winter. As of 11PM, we had 8 inches on the ground!
of him in the goggles. Willie called him “Bugman”. We’ll follow-up with a well-known therapist whenever I can get an appt. scheduled with her. Currently, Jordan is in Auburn at a camp. He’s called twice wanting to come home – within 5 hours of leaving. Hopefully he’ll make it through the night. It’s been a long and busy day. He must be exhausted.
