Surgery that didn’t happen…

Check-in: 8:30, but first: flu symptom check and identification badges.

ID'd, gowned, waiting for the anesthesiologist so we can get this procedure going...

Once the anesthesiologist made it in to discuss the procedure, he took one listen to Jordan’s lungs and the wheels of the day came to a screeching halt. Jordan sounded wheezy and the doc was concerned that Jordan would end up in worse shape than he currently was if they continued with the plan for general anesthesia. Following more doctors, more listening, phone calls to the dentist & oral surgeon, the procedure was canceled.

Made it home 3-1/2 hours after we started out our day.

Still waiting to reschedule…

Jordan scheduled for surgery in the AM

I’d like to request prayer for Jordan as he heads back to Children’s for his 2nd of 3 surgeries this year. This one is for all those baby teeth that just aren’t falling out on their own. For some of them, 7 in all, there are no teeth coming in behind them to push them out and for others the roots may be embedded in the bone. The teeth that are coming in are running into teeth that shouldn’t be there and are coming in where they shouldn’t.

Specifics:

Safety during the procedure: Jordan’s had a cold the last few days, but they’re going ahead with the anesthesia and procedure. Pray for his airway and respiratory status.

Anxiety level: Returning to the hospital less than a month after his last procedure could be a little nerve-wracking for the little boy.

Healing: The radiation he received way back when he was 1-1/2 can cause delayed healing of the sockets where the teeth will be removed.

Check-in will be at 8:30 AM, with surgery around 10 and lasting about an hour.

Thank you!

Stephanie’s weekend away

Each spring, my accountability group schedules in one weekend away to relax and enjoy one another’s company.

We got more time this year than usual, leaving Friday morning and not returning until 8pm on Sunday. Fun!

Our first stop on the way up to our final destination of Camano Island, was the outlet mall where we spent numerous hours perusing the stores north of Marysville.

Taking it upon ourselves to stimulate the economy.

After dinner at Boston Pizza, we traveled the rest of the way to the Island and our friend Laurie’s parents’ “cabin”. Several years ago it actually was a cabin but a couple years ago it was destroyed and a beautiful, new home built in its place.

The weather was absolutely gorgeous. Here, Laurie chats with Sherice and Denna.

After a relaxing morning, some sun bathing, reading and minimal responsibility, a few of us went out (not to Target this time!) and found a couple thrift/antique shops to wander through. As we headed back to the house, we ran across a few signs advertising a dance that night. How memorable would that be?! Now to convince the other half of the group that it was a good idea to go check this event out between the hours of 7 and 10.

Following a yummy dinner of fish tacos, we headed out the door in our shorts, capris, and tees to check out what kind of dance was happening on this lazy, little island. The signs gave us no idea if we were heading to a square dance, formal dance, or something in between. We laughed so hard as we headed to the “Senior and Community Center” of Camano Island.

Unsure of what they'd find, Shannon and Denna head into the Center.

It was semi-formal! And $15 per person!

We observed for a little while as it became clear that skilled, partner dancing was NOT something we'd be able to pull off.

So, we goofed around. Denna dips Linda.

Figuring we’d invaded as much as we could, we headed back to the house for an evening of encouragement, sharing, and games.

These 3 goofy girls gave Sherice and I a lot to laugh about as we returned to the house!

What a GOOFY bunch!

Sharing the love before we headed home, well, back to the outlet mall. What a GOOFY bunch!

Jordan’s upcoming baseball game

The schedule is kind of getting rolled out a few games at a time this year (UGH!).

His next game is Wednesday, May 27th at 6:00pm – Alderwood Boys and Girls Club.

Uncle Wes & Aunt Kara take the girls to the Tulips

My brother, Wes, and his lovely bride of 2 years, Kara, came up from So. California for a perfectly-timed visit Thursday, 4/23 – Sunday, 4/26. Kara’s college friend got married on Saturday and that was a great excuse for an extended weekend visit with us.

With Jordan’s surgery scheduled for Friday, it was the first time in years that we’ve had family here to care for the girls when Jordan’s been in surgery. And they came ready to spoil those nieces. Friday brought manicures and pedicures followed by a trip up north to The Tulip Festival before scooping up some fresh ice cream and heading home.

Such relaxation! The entire chair was fit with massagers.

What an amazing day. And then they swung by the grocery store and picked up the fixings for tacos. Willie and I came home from Jordan’s surgery to a Mexican Fiesta. Thanks guys! It was so wonderful to have you here.
