Suite night at Safeco!

May 22, 2009 –

Our 2nd game of the season, this one was a gift from the Fitch family as a thank you for Willie’s help coaching Faith’s (and Jordan’s) baseball team over the years – well, and because we’re friends, too! As a Mariners employee, Ede gets a suite once a year and their family chooses to thank supporters of their family by inviting some of those people – Mariner fans – to enjoy the suite with them. This is our second year attending and it’s been a blast both times. This year, Jordan’s principal and his wife also attended so it was fun to chat with them.¬†

We watched this stance for so many years with Randy was with the Mariners it was really amazing to have seats right above the bullpen where he warmed up prior to the start of the game.

The game was a very exciting one which ended up going into extra innings. Not only did Randy Johnson pitch for the visiting Giants, but it was Felix Hernandez bobble head night and the Mariners pulled out a victory in 12 innings!

Willie and I had to leave the game early to catch the bus. The bottom of the 9th arrived, bases loaded, and the pinch hit Griffey – the place went wild. It was a bummer that he struck out but the electricity in the place to have Griffey in Johnson back together in the same game was worth going into extra innings. Following the game on Willie’s internet-enabled phone, we learned while we were passing Northgate on the bus that we won it in 12!

Fun night!

Mariners Game in the gorgeous late spring heat

At the game - we were in shorts and no coats all evening, leaving in 80 degrees at 10pm! And the M's won! and Griffey homered!

Catching up…

Saturday, April 10th through Tuesday the 14th were crazy busy days. There were events for each of the kids, multiple parties (4 on Saturday alone!), Easter, Mariners preparations, and oh, my birthday, before Opening Day at Safeco Field arrived on Tuesday. It was all very fun, but exhausting when the adrenaline finally could taper off  Wednesday evening.

Easter eggs. These are actually all raw! Willie didn't want the dye to go to waste so he and Ashley colored every egg we had in the house!

Now back home at Safeco, Griffey's 1st at-bat. He was all business after this - and even got a hit! So exciting to have him back in Seattle.

Facebook, a stadium full of 50,000 fans, and these screens came together so that my long-time friend who I only run into every now and then & I actually interacted. She knew I was getting a b’day greeting because I’d said so on Facebook, and later in the game, she got on the big screen during the 7th inning stretch dancing time. Even amongst 50,000 people, God has a funny sense of humor to connect people!
